Georgia Route from Tioneti to Zhinvali
Hi there, does anyone know if the route from Tioneti to Zhinvali ist doable.
It´s marked as a minor road or "other road".
Both GPS devices don´t suggest this road...
As always the locals vary from "on a donkey, yes!" to "perfect road".
I have to decide beforehand
Would appreciate any advice.

Haven't driven it but I'm 99% sure it is fine, as long as you're not in a Lamborghini.

I drove from Mtskheta to Khevsureti (Shatili etc) and passed a little bit of that route. The road was pretty OK and I vaguely remember the junction to Tianeti.
I hope you have the time to visit the mountains. Svaneti, Tusheti, Khevsureti and Racha are all fascinating destinations with beautiful views.

I´ve been to Mestia. I arrived in rain, the next day the rain stopped for one day and then started again for a week, so I left to Tbilisi. I´ll stay two days in Stepantsminda.
If you like have a look here:

So I did that road, which was rough but very scenic.
I liked it very much, but my tires didn´t.
The rear Heidenau K60 Scout was ripped after this strech of some km.
It hat deep cut where the knobbies are, and I had to change it. Dato Kikalishvili

Thanks for that.
He can not only help in Georgia, but is organizing Enduro trips around Georgia.
Feel free to contact him, he hepls in any way he can!

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
