It is possible to enter China via the Torugart Pass from Tadjikistan, and exit south into Pakistan, then you can go across to India and pick up the fantastic Menali - Ley road and follow this towards the KKH.
The problem is that you are not allowed to enter China with any form of motorised transport unless you have a guide. This can be arranged for the 'Silk Road' through Kashgar by the Caravan Cafe - it takes 3 months to arrange and costs about 1000 USD - but they might be able to hook you up with another group for a lot less
good luck

thanks.
thanks a lot mate, i heard before of this travel agency and the rates, i understand it should be around 100$ a day for the guide and 700$ for the permit, we considering this as a posibility, the only Q is the money, but i am sure we shell overcome it, anyway thanks for your answer and have much fun.

Hello,
i'm at the moment in kasachstan and came this way from Pakistan. That's the Torugart Pass in "kirgisistan" witch you have to take to go china-pakistan. For me that way was to expensive so i came pakistan-afghanistan and than tajikistan. This way through the north of afghanistan is quite alright and save. I think a bad situation can arrive every time. It's a matter about luck. But there where a few people who did that way in the soon past. Only for the Khyber-pass on the pakistan side is not allowed to drive with a motorbike so you have to put the bike on a pick-up.
so long

well as for now we came to the conclusion that we are going through kirgyzstan into china (kashgar) and down the kkh into pakistan and then india, the problem now is finding a way of shipping the bikes back north from india, we are checking the pos, of flying them from delhi to bishkek or almaty, the intention is be able to go through mongolia and then into russia=>vladivostok.
so thanks for the replys and if anyone have an idea regarding the shippmaent from delhi to the north we would be gratefull.
