How long does it take to ride from the UK to Germany? I understand there is a ferry, where is it and what is the cost? Thanks.

The ferry is in Dover, can't miss it. Two - three hours ride iirc. There's also a hovercraft, more expensive but faster. And there's also the Chunnel! You load and ride in a rail car. Very quick except for the wait time.
£30-70 bracket if I recall correctly - Brits feel free to update that!
Once in the UK pick up a copy of MCN at any newsstand - they usually have a special deal available for the ferries.
London to Munich (sorta far end of Germany) is possible in one long day. btdt. The autobahn in Germany is of course very fast, but be careful in France, the cops are out there looking.

There is also a ferry from Harwich, in Essex, which goes directly to Cuxhaven ib NW Germany, quite near Hamburg. It takes 18 hours overnight and costs about £80. The shipping line is called DFDS. Main drawback is that there are only a couple of sailings a week.

If you would take the ferry from Dover then I believe that will bring you to Belgium. If you planning on riding through it and wonna take some time to take the fun way instead of the speedways to Germany let me know.
Also if you would arrive in Belgium late afternoon / evening and in search for a place to sleep I might be able to help you out for a night. I live in Leuven, wich is about 1,5 hours from the place were the ferry arrives. (that is speedway time btw)
Drop me a mail if you are interested in either of the offers.
Pieter.

If I remember correctly the Hovercraft is no more. Since the tunnel came along there's been a price war with the ferries, and the aging hovercraft was too expensive to compete. Pity, because it was a fantastic way to travel.
Now I'd only use the tunnel, which in my experience is quicker than the ferry. In most cases I've riden straight through the terminal and been loaded on the end of next departing train. They can usually squeeze a bike on where it would impossible to fit a car.
Also when you arrive at either end, it's an experience to ride down the middle of the train through all those carriages!

Hi guys,
Im heading to UK in a week or so. Which is the cheapest way to get there? I hear the ferries are still the cheapest way, but where from? Belgium, France (Calais). Where can i find the info? Im now in Swiss then to Berlin and then find the fastest, cheapest(the priority) route across.
Thanks in advance
Dalbir

The cheapest route is, almost definately, the Calais to Dover Ferry. It's worth asking the price of a return ticket, even if you don't intend to use it, as this will probably be cheaper than a single. There are also lots of good deals on the 'Eurotunnel' Again worth asking the price of a return ticket.
'Seafrance' + 448705 711711 (UK Telephone number) are offering a 30% discount on the Calais Dover route if you quote 'MCI11146'
'P&O' +44 8705 202020 are also offering 30% discount between Calais and Dover. Quote reference number '9632'.
P&O also give discounts for groups of riders.
