Morocco rentals

Hi everyone,
I am very new at this so bear with me. I am off to Morocco this coming January and I am hoping to rent a bike for about 10 days. Can anyone give me some suggestions of where I can and should rent a bike from in Morocco. I will be flying into Casablanca.
Thanks
Doug

What sort of bike and where are you headed?

I haven't spent much time in Casa--it's not exactly prime biking country--so I can't help you there.

I never been to Morocco, so any advice at all is all good. In a perfect world I would like to be on something around a 600, but I would be just as happy getting on something smaller that is reliable. As for where I am going, I have 10 days and no set agenda. I will make it up as I go along.
Any tips on a rental company that may help?
Cheers
Doug

If you Google for moto location casablanca (bike hire Casablanca) you'll find a pile of links in French. For example,
www. loc2roues. com/motos.php
www. essaouiranet. com/francais/vacances/location_voiture.htm

Where you go depends on the weather. It's likely to be cold overnight and first thing, then hopefully warmish and sunny during the day, in which case you can go anywhere in Morocco, although the mountains will be cooler. On the other hand there might be bad weather and snow on the mountain passes, in which case you will be more restricted.

BikersHome is in English and Peter can advise you on how to get to Ouarzazate.

For others, stick them through Babblefish. Paste the website URL into 'translate a web page' and select 'french to english'. As an example, the 'loc2roues' site shows a Yamaha XT660 (or a Suzi DRZ 400) at 5000 MAD/week which is about £315 per week.

Might be an idea to use the time between now and January to learn a little French, just the basics will help no end. In many of the rural places you could struggle to be understood without any French or Arabic, and trying to communicate in a language known to the locals can open many doors to you, and go some way to not getting ripped off.
