New member travelling from Sweden all the way down needs information

Hi everyone! I just found this site as I'm trying to plan out some semblance of a route through Europe. I live way up in the north of Sweden and it will take 2 days of hard riding just to get to Germany. From there on I'm game for anything. I have no real time restrictions and I'm travelling alone and I want to take in as much as possible. I have hooked up already with some hosts on couchsurfing and I'll be bringing a tent along with me as well so I can try to keep the costs down as much as possible, although I can see some nights in a nice bed would be comfortable now and again. I've been scowering the net for routes and there seems to be a bounty of them out there, but it appears I can find a wealth of information here from you folks that have been around Europe...so....how about taking a few minutes and sharing with me?? I can be found on MSN at peterjumps 'AT' hotmail 'DOT' com as well so look me up..been a professional skydiver for 30 years so I like to have a GOOD time! Thanks.
Peter

The Baltic coast of Poland is an attractive area as well as historic, check out Hel, Malbork, Gdansk, the Masurian Lakes, the Wolf's Lair. Move to the south of Poland and you have Cracow, Auschwitz and the High Tatras. In Hungary you have Lake Balaton, move west into Slovenia (the most beautiful country in the world) and visit Ljubljana and the Lakes at Bled and Bohinj. You're now in the Alps, if you're in Austria in early September visit European Bike Week at Faaker See in Southern Carinthia ( a free biker party visited by about 100,000 people each year) Move west through the Tyroll into Switzerland for the full drama of the Alpine peaks, a good base with a cheap campsite is the town of Andermatt. Head north into Germany and the Black Forest, the Rhine and Moselle valleys, up to the Eifel mountains for a blast around the Nurburgring and on into the Ardennes region of Belgium. That would be a good tour and we haven't even mentioned France, Spain or Portugal yet. Wherever you end up enjoy your trip.

Aha!!

Thank you so much for your input...I hadn't considered Poland as I've been there before..I'm more interested in concentrating on Germany, Italy, France, Spain, and Switzerland. I can tell already, however, this trip is going to stretch out! Keep em coming guys and gals! If you can mention specific sites you've found especially breathtaking, I'm very interested...Thanks.

We have just ridden through France and made good use of the F1 hotels. Very clean, loads of hot water and not expensive.

We also had our tent but didn`t use it until Italy.

Look on Hostelworld as well you can get some cheap overnights on there as well.

I found Lourdes in France to be fascinating - whether as a believer or a heathen like me, it's an astounding place.

Have a great trip.

F1 "Hotels"

Let's call them in door camping shall we. Not bad, but a toilet in your room would be nice & not down the hall next to the shower stall!

Oh, yea & their "breakfast" offering.....Hmm, does choke & puke bring anything to mind?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
