Exclamation [New Site] Border Crossing Reviews

**UPDATE** Site is live: http://www.BorderHelper.com

Hey everyone,

Everyday on the HUBB I see people asking questions about border crossings. Most of the information is there but it's scattered around like crazy. The forums are great but they don't always make it easy to find specific information when you need it.

I'm working on a new site idea where travelers can read reviews of border crossings and/or leave their own reviews. If the content is there, I think it will be a great help to the community. Building that content will be the challenge.

So what do you think? Useful? Helpful? I'm all ears.

There sure are a lot of border crossings in the world and I only had enough time today to map 150 of them!

whhhhaaa...
VERY USEFUL, VERY HELPFUL.

Dude, this is a great idea. Perhaps too great to be posting on the internet before you build it? This could be be valuable tool for other companies (Lonely Planet etc.), or even governments to use.

Also, it'd be awesome for the HUBB! Go man go!

Hey guys! The site is live!!

It would be great if you could take 60 seconds and write up a brief note about a few of your crossings. I know future travelers will thank you for it!

Lots of new information

Hey guys,

There has been a lot of new information added to borders in Central and South America. I'm starting to map other borders around the world as well. Let me know what is most important to you and of course, if you have any information of your own to share - please do! It's really easy. Thanks and I hope you find this info useful.

LOL! Cool man, i've been working on the same a while ago.
But haven't had time to continue with it.

Map - Round The World Planner for Bikers
(zoom into thailand/southeastasia and give it some time, it's a crazy slow server)

i can send you my database of border crossings that i have so far (not as many as you, but different regions...)

Have to go now, but let's get in touch!

Dr Benny - the site is great.

Where did you get the GPS positions of the borders so-far? Is there any-way that we can help you get the positions for the rest of the world?

I manually plotted all the spots in Central and South America. For north america and south africa, I pulled the locations from wikipedia. I'm working on the technology to allow users to submit their own waypoints - that's definitely the way to go - just need to clear some technical hurdles first. Thanks for having a look! And if you have any specific info you want to include, I'm happy to create a new waypoint for you - just let me know where.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
