Odessa to Chisinou..

Hi all.
me and my wife are in Odessa now.. we passed the shit road from Galati(RO) to Odessa(UKR) 300km 8 hours.. Result: She is hospital from yesterday and we have to stay 2 nights more.
And now we dont know what we will do .. if she fly back to home and if i have to turn back by the same road... no, never again..
I am thinking to go to Chishinou (MOldova) from Odessa but i dont know how the road situation is.. Anybody passed nearly previous days.
Thnx

If you go the E85 Route from Odessa

I went the other way in 2013, when you leave Ukriane you enter the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Independence declare from Moldova 1990 but not officially recognised by some countrys)

In the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic they have a local currency so you can only swap money or draw money on your bank card at offcial places as they "say" they dont take Euro's or USD.............

Once you leave the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic you will have and offical border checkpoint with all customs paper work and then another when you enter Moldova. You can buy insurance at the border.

I really like my time in the PMR and very friendly people, some info about it here and also a map to show you where it is

Roads were pot holed alot but i rode a light DRZ400 and had no issues

I think if you take the E87 route from Odessa which looks directly West you bypass the PMR so no border check points in and out of the PMR as you enter directly into Moldova

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
