Hi! After some suggestions & info.
Im planning to ship from Perth (or Darwin dont mind driving up there) to Vlad Mid 2017, from there driving to Europe & UK.

My car is Mitsubishi mirage (dont laugh), theres a reason why im using this car.
will this car make it ? how bad are the roads ?

any shipping recommendations. or other info i need to know ?

I'm doing the same trip in 6 weeks time... but on a motorbike! Are you sure about the Mirage?
in the end you can do it with everything but I had a Mirage and it wasn't the most comfy vehicle but reliable. What year model is it?

I would maybe consider something what you can take a bit off road. From what I heard is that the main road in Russia specially all the way east from Vladivostok to lake Baikal is good but also has potholes and the speed limit is 90 km/h.

The locals say that you don't get a fine if you stay below 110 km/h

Are you planing to go to Mongolia is well? You don't want to miss out on Mongolia but the Mirage in Mongolia is for sure not the car you want because most road are gravel.

Yes i Kinda want to take the Mirage, 2002 CE. Ill tell you why in a sec.
I know it isnt the most suitable vech, but i also know every vech is compromise.
Pros/cons:
- limited route it can travel,
- may struggle in some situations
+ cheap on gas & cheaper freight (small size).
+ if it does brake down (none repairable) i wouldnt be to worried about it. wouldnt be worth more than 2k.

I used to be a automechanic before my current job, so im not a complete novice, and There are some suttle mods im going to do it the car before then.

The mirage used to be owned by my british relo's who used to live here in aus, Theyve since moved back to the Uk, and have become too old to travel, over 75.
Ive always joked that one day im going to drive it back to them and hand over the keys. now im going to do it!

I dont think ill get to involved in the out skirts of russia, probably just some light sight seeing around the main towns etc. mainly its the EU and UK i want to see.
Also I dont have a world of time maybe 3-4 months, if i try to take 6 months off from my work, theyll probably sack me lol.

HI guys, Mid 2014 drove from Vlad to Baikal before heading into Mongolia - the Hwy is no problem at all, lumpy in places and lots of long sections of road works with crazy drivers and rocks flying around but no real problems! It's a while ago but it will probably be the same this year as the road deteriorates over the winter freeze and they are always repairing it when it warms up... Mongolia is experiencing an exponential growth of new sealed roads as china pours in money but still has a massive amount of tracks and mildly populated areas which is what we are there for right! I don't see any real problems for your mirage - tracks between the larger villages are generally the more used ones and have a reasonable stream of traffic along them and often they have small Hyundai's and the like so you won't be the only one. There are river crossings here and there but there is usually an acceptable crossing - after all the locals have to move around also. Yep there are lots of trails that are sandy or better traversed in a high clearance vehicle but you can just avoid those areas... If the Mongol rally can get across there I'm sure you will also! Well have a great time - it's an interesting journey...

In the summer? You'll struggle. In the winter, when roads are frozen, you'll have an easier time.

Remember that a lot of locals have regular passenger cars and there used to be a big stream of used Japanese cars being self-driven to Western Russia to be sold. The support infrastructure is there, sorta, but most reports I've read suggest it's much easier to put your car on a train platform.
