Advice?

If you want others to tell you the distance of YOUR route, and how long it will take, then you really haven't done any planning.

That's my advice.

You can't easily cross from Morocco to Egypt overland. See this site for more info about the region and border crossings: Sahara Overland ~ Trans Sahara Routes

travel to Dakar

Having done more planning I am looking to travel to the south of France to Monaco, then follow the caost, ferry to Tangier then again follow the coast down to Dakar. At the moment it looks like I will be travelling alone, I am excited but REALLY aprehensive. Any views? what are the dangers? how long do you reckon? thanks for your help.

If you want a good ride down through France then try the D964 from Sedan to Neafchatel then the Route des Grandes Alpes from Thonon-les-Bains to Menton near Monaco. The route round the coast is very boring and, in summer, very busy. The Cevennes is worth a visit.

If you enjoyed the Alps then take an extra day or two and do the Pyrennes, sticking as closely as you can to the D918, before heading down for the ferry.

Do you still plan to try to get across to Egypt and Turkey from Dakar or ride or ship your bike back? When do you plan on going? The more specific you get with your plans and questions, the better answers you'll get.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
