Routes and tracks for Turkey ?
I'm looking already a long time for good information on tracks in Turkey, but it seems more difficult than I thought..
Does anybody have good experiences / information on tracks in the east of Turkey ? We're looking at travelling in a Landrover in may-june and trying to see as much as possible of the countryside..
Also still looking for a good map / GPS map for Turkey, so far I've only found the Ryborsch 1/500.000 maps, these are not so detailed..are there any better available ?
Any help is greatly appreciated !
Bjorn

Hi,
Google maps and mapquest are really detailed and kinda accurate. Both garmin and magellan have detailed GPS maps. Magellan'a website (map should be around 60-70 euros) is GPS Türk - Anasayfa and Garmin's website (Navcity Map -125 Euro + VAT) is ---GARMIN--- . Send me an e-mail if you need help. I have several guide books for east and south east but they are more about touristic sites.

Thanks for the info Kobold..
I already have the Garmin GPS60 map, but I'm not sure if I want to bring a laptop so I can work with the Google maps while driving. I have no experience with the Maggelan or Garmin maps for offroading, are they accurate enough in tranck detail ?
I'm looking more for info from people who have travelled the tracks and pistes, somehow it's not so easy to find anything from the east of Turkey. Voyages 4x4 , this site has some great tracks on Morocco, which I've used already, but Turkey isn't as popular with overland trekkers as Morocco I suppose
How will the weather be in the countryside, east Turkey in April ?

Hi Bjorn,
Turkey is one of my favorite touring countries - but watch out for the killer pebbles! On my trip around the Black Sea, I rode from Trabzon to Samson, to Ankara, down to Cappadocia and west and up around the coast. If you want more info, here's my trip report. If there's anything else I can do to assist, let me know. Tony
