3 to 4 months ... Not travelled much? Unless you don't want to see much (in that case just buy a round the world air ticket) and have some exemption from speeding fines, you will want a lot more time.
Take a read of people who have done trips - "Travellers Stories" - look at the time lines.
See posts on china ... getting a bike in and not paying for an escort may be difficult.
---- You will need a lot more than 2 days to read every thing and absorb it here. Consider the weather. Consider the distances. Consider what you want to stop and see. Consider that you will need to stop for say a day out of every 7 to relax wile doing the washing, changing the oil, getting new tyres...
Do a small trip first - say Europe. A few weeks - see the speed at which you want to travel and the amount of time you want to stop. remember you will be on the road for months so doing the washing, shopping and banking all take more time than a preorganised week or two away.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
