San Antonio, TX to Bogota?! ADVICE POR FAVOR!
I'm debating whether to fly ship bike to Bogota from Miami or just ride. I can't leave 'til mid Nov. due to work and would like to make it to Usuaia by Dec. 22. I would also like to spend 2 wks. in Colombia. (It's about a Girl...) I just came back from Bogota (by plane, no bike) in July and I fel in love the place!!! Can someone advice me as to what time frame I'm looking at to make it to Bogota from San Antonio, TX?!
Thanks....ride safe,
Greg

It's about 2,000 miles from Panama City to Mexico City (approx. 40 hours riding, depends on borders etc., there are 6 of them for you to cross). I'm guessing it's about 1,500 miles to from San Antonio to Miami. From my perspective, it's a no brainer, it might be twice as far but waaaay more interesting and when will you ever find a better reason to ride through Central America? Be careful though, it is extremely easy to fall in love in pretty much every one of those countries (as you have found out ). If you get waylaid, send an SOS and we'll come for you...

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
