Through Mongolia July 2015

I’ve spend several days on trying dig information to schedule Mongolia trip with minor success, and now need help.
Very poor information about viewpoints and road conditions east of UB.
Guys, can you guide me on pure driving time during this route?
All suggestions to route changes duet clymate specifics, viewpoints, and *better road conditions* are highly appreciated.
We are going 2up on Yama-Supertenere 1200

Not sure where you're from, but apart from an extra border crossing opening up north of khovsgol, as a european tourist, you can only enter/exit Russia nort of UB and in west Mongolia direction Kosh-Agach (m52)... not so for Russian citizens (and maybe some other nationalities but don't know the end of it)...
Driving time, 2 up (without ruining your suspension on the corrigation?) from the west to UB can be done on the southern route in 5 days or less.. east of UB no idea...

This report from Colebatch is the only one I remember about Mongolia east of UB.

As for riding time, please take it for what it is: Walter is known as a very fast rider, and on this trip he even declares he "was on a mission", so, unless you are a rally professional rider, take Walter times and multiply for 3 or 4, maybe even 6 :-)

You should ask yourself ...how many hours you gonna ride the bike ...
Let me point to you that in that country only two things can bi done....either you sit somewhere and look in direction of noting or you hop on bike and drive from sunrise to sundown with small stop to take fuel or food .....and that is about 10h per day and if you multiply bay Km........that is how I did it last year on my way to Japan.
Hope this helps
Zoki

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
