Camp sites in Spain for newbie traveller!

I`m planning a trip in May from Santander following the "Silver Route" where possible (Salamanca, Caceres, Seville) en route to meeting a friend near Malaga and then riding up the east coast to Barcelona before crossing the Pyrenees and heading up the west coast of France to Calais. I`ve never camped with the bike before. Has anyone any recommendations for suitable camp sites? Any input would be really welcome!

Perhaps we should talk, I'm aiming to head Uk to Malaga later this month (19/20 April), and start the return trip probably 3rd week in May, riding up to Calais over the course of 4 or 5 days. Maybe not a chance to ride together but who knows, perhaps share some info as we come across it.

I never know where I'll be at the end of each day so I just find somewhere when I'm ready. If you have a map with some sites shown I'd head there. Most towns have a campsite especially in France with the municipal sites. It is possible however to be in a non-tourist area with no camping so you have to keep an eye on that. Generally though just follow your nose and camp when you've ridden enough that day. It worked for me in the past. These days I try to stay on one campsite for a week and explore the area each day before moving on. Good luck.

Thanks for all the input folks! Hi Rob, don`t think our paths will cross this time. I`ll be heading back north at the end of the first week unfortunately, but have a great trip. I`ll be checking in on HU when I find internet cafes, so if I`ve got anything to share I`ll keep you posted!

Try the campsite at Platja de Garbet, just north of Llanca, right on the beach, gorgeous views & twists coming back into France on your way north!

Then 3h north over the Pyrenees in France BandB-Camping-Chambres d'hôtes near Carcassonne
