UK-India via China

Hi
I was planing a 4x4 trip through Tibet but it appears that Tibet is closed so China Pakistan India is the only other choice.
Has anybody done this route recently?
Anybody want to make a group up through China
A recommended tour guide would be good I have heard that UK-ette may be starting up a guide operation.
We hope to be in China in August 2013

Pakistan-Iran-Turkey should also be possible (if you can get the visa for Iran, that is). No China-costs on that route.

Hi Dave
My wife and I are considering driving to China via Mongolia next year in a 4x4 Mercedes 814 , which route to Mongolia are you planning?

Hi Chris

The only planning we have done in Russia is a google map route from Moscow to Mongolia as we have been working on a guide and group to get from Erenhot to India in August seeing all the sites and some rough country either through Tidet or Kashmr.
We would like to wild camp were possible. our truck is a 4x4 Pinzgauer with my one camper body

Her has done part 1 of the exams today, part 2 is next week.
I feel the route would be some thing like this.
UK
Berlin
Kiev
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Enter China via Tourgart Pass
Onto Kashgar, Tourpan.
Xian, via old Silk Route
To the East coast of China, by Yantai, Qingdao, Weifang.
Then Beijing
Then Hohhot into Inner Mongolia (still China)
Then to Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar.
Then into Russia, Novosibirsk
Then Samara
Then Kiev
Berlin
Calais
Uk

ROUGHLY ! Very roughly
Be about 3-4 weeks from enter China, to depart China.
Totally about 10 weeks
Broken down, it could be
3 weeks to China
3 weeks in China
3 weeks return

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
