I am now on my RTW doing my South America leg but next will be Africa and I was wondering if you guys had any recent experience on the best route for off road riding as it will be certainly what I will looking for . I am changing bike for the west coast and will have a light dual sport DRZ or DR650 at most.
Thanks
Hendi

Try Wild dog Adventure riding forum for South African advice. I have just registered there to plan my trip and have had a good welcome.

Africa
I may sell it after brasil or I will ship it back home , don't know yet , and I have no clue about paper work to be done for next owner , I could even drive it back to Colombia going from Belem to Manaus by boat and then venezuella and Colombia (this seems fun to me)

Hi Hendi,
I have placed some footage on You tube. It is with a landcruiser but we were accompanied by motorcycles at times. If you stick tot the main roads in central west africa, (south Gabon, Congos', Cabinda) you will be doing all the off roading you want. We had to take luggage from the motocyclist in the Cruiser because it was to much mud and pools and to heavy for a long day driving.
Look in You Tube for "crossing africa" and "Noel" and you will find 10 x 10min clips covering the whole trip from NL to RSA via west coast and back again via east coast.
cheers and bon voyage,
Noel

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
