roro-ferry Malaysia to Indonesia
Hello!
I found something interesting on the Internet. Roro-Ferry to Indonesia?
http://www.gbgindonesia.com/…/di…/2014/asdp/introduction.php
ASDP Inonesia ferry plans to open in 2015 a roro-connection between Malaysia and Indonesia. Penang to Belawan (Sumatra) and Melakka to Dumai (Sumatra). Does anyone have more information on this? Is someone nearby Melakka or Penang to confirm this info?
Happy travels!!!

Great news, if it happens, absolutely... but after following the situation for 7-8 years, let´s just say I would not hold my breath! Even if such service IS started, how long they´ll keep going, is another matter. The last time there was this kind of service in operation, I think it lived for weeks rather than months.

amazing if it ever comes to fruition - I love Indonesia, to ride on my own bike would be heaven.
There is also a line from Songkhla, which is 20km from me, which connects to Melacca to Dumai then upto Medan.

Hi to all of you!
I have been in Melaka and visited the ferry officies there. An employee told me that he is working for more than 15 years at the office and never in this 15 years he saw a ferry with car or truck leaving Melaka direction Indonesia. Until now he did not hear even a rumor from starting the ferry linking this 2 countries...... The old ferry terminal, looks deserted, big pile of garbage inside and erverything rotten. At the other side of the canal or the Melaka river, they build a brand new one, but also for passengers only. It won´t be a problem to enter with carseither, but until today NOT. So lets see what will happen next few years....

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
