Bolivia - Sucre

Maria's Casa - Maita Kapac #51, Sucre Bolivia.

I have just spent the last 3 weeks staying in Maria's Casa in Sucre while I took Spanish Lessons in Sucre.

I wanted a break from camping and backpackers party hostals and can highly recommend this place for anyone passing through or staying for a while as a lovely tranquil and cheap place to stay.

Maria is a Spanish teacher at one of the local schools and speaks good English, she has three large rooms (2 have double beds and one has two singles I think) that she rents out per day, week, month etc. For around 35 Bolivianos per night (great price!). I think she would also offer private Spanish lessons for a good price.

While there is not a garage per-se there is great, indoor, secure parking for bikes. This area would also fit about 2 4x4 landcruiser type jeeps. You can easily access your bike 24/7 to come and go as you please.

There is a large kitchen and a dining room with a fridge and you can wash and dry clothes out back.

You probably could do non messy-maintenance on the bike and the house is only a few minutes walk from the best mechanic in Sucre - Nicky @ Motocar and another bike shop to buy parts etc.

The only downside is at the moment there is no Wifi (She is working on that). I used the cheap Tigo 3G while i was here.

If you wanted to contact Maria in advance her email is marymtgdo85@hotmail.com.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
