Thanks johan&ils for the recommendation, Carlos did me proud. He does a lot with Jap bikes, but also older German and British bikes.

He solved various problems and set me well up for the next x thousand miles

Very Happy

I'd also like to give Carlos huge props. I met him on the Stahlratte crossing between Panama and Colombia and then visited his shop for repairs in Quito. He did a great job and for dirt cheap. If you stop by tell him I say hi. You won't be disappointed.

We spent today at Carlos' workshop doing various jobs to our bikes. Carlos and his crew did some work, we did some work, Carlos sold us tires and fitted them He owns both an Airhead and an Oilhead BMW, along with other makes. His workshop has many Japanese bikes.

Carlos is a gentlemen, an excellent tradesman and fun to be around. His charges are very reasonable. He has ridden from Prudoe Bay to Ushua, so understands how we think. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Thanks to the above posts, I visited Carlos Arias for work on my BMW R80. A God send! You can relax. He knows he's stuff and goes about it calmly. He's also happy for you to work with him.

We changed the steering head bearings and located and fixed a gremlin in the electrics. For two mornings labour incl suspension oil, I paid around $100. A bargain.

The above directions are still good. You can find him on facebook.

Cheers,

Bob

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
