South american tire availability
Sorry if this has been covered.
Ive searched around and found stories from well stocked dealerships to people paying out the ass, or even shipping from home because of unavailability.
Ill be in Guatemala city soon . Tires are plentiful and well priced there. I dont want to have to carry a spare set unnecessarily.
Is there a general consensus for availability when heading down the west coast of SA?
Another question. Ive been running the tkc80, a 50/50 tire. In reality its been seeing 90/10 on/off road. In my sizes, the next more street oriented tire is substantially less aggressive. The cost is high, tread life is poor, but the tradeoff seems worth it for the situations when you need traction. As I venture further south, am I correct in guessing that ill be seeing more need for an off road oriented tire or should I switch to a more street friendly tread?
Thanks.
