i´m going to be moving south again very soon, and should be in panama in around a week, and was hoping to get a little direction concerning questions.

can someone direct me to the link on this site where information is concerning selling an american titled and plated bike in south america. i will be finished with traveling in 3 or more months, and hope to sell it, either to anyone i can find, or to another american back in the states, and let him or her drive it back to north america.

thanks
steve

sales

If you get to southern CR look me up - Uvita/San Isidro area look me up.
Most of CA and SA you can't sell a bike legally to citizen of same, only transfer (ie bill of sale) to another traveller, OR
anything is possible mostly in Peru. I sold one there "legally"...advertised on Mercado Libre Peru and a dealer bought it. Did paperwork at registro, he paid 22% tax.......done.
I think Paraguay (see Klein Motors) is a possibilty also, not sure.
In southern Colombia (San Augustin) is a mechanic who sometimes buys bikes and switches frames to wrecked Colombian bike, he might buy depending on which moto it is.
Lots of thread here for that info too, look around.

In Colombia you might be able to find some help through Mike, owner of Casa Blanca, look him up through EXTREME MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURES He advertises bikes on his site and you might be able to sell it through him...

Good Luck!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
