Expired bike papers in Argentina

I may not be able to return to Argentina to continue my Adventure before the motorcycle import papers expire. Has anyone had to get their bike out of Argentina after the customs paperwork expired, and if so, what was the consequences. Thanks,

I have no experience in Argentina, but in Bolivia I did manage to extend up to 12 months. I advice you to visit the customs and explain them the situation. If you have bike trouble, let them see the workshop bills or let the workshop write a note explaining them you are delayed.

Adventurous greetings,
Coen

Thanks Mailman

Unfortunately, I'm in the US and the bike is in Argentina so I can't go to customs. I left Argentina to take a short job and replish my funds, but the work just keeps on going. It looks like I'm just gonna have to leave the job early and return.

I was thinking it would only result in a fine but after reading Xfiliates post I realized it could be a much bigger problem. Looks like I'll fly down and ride across the Urugray border for a day and return to Argentina with another 8 month permit.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
