F650 carburator looking for a lift: Belem, Brasil to Buenos Aires
This may be a little unconventional, but I am looking for some kind individual that is willing to earn a bit of extra money by hand carrying my new/used carburator from Belem to Buenos Aires any time in the next couple of months: before December 1st, preferably sooner.
It is a veerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long story involving Duetsch Post
The carburator should be arriving at Alex Reis´s shop in Belem in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, my visa for Brasil ran out as did the time and I had to ship the bike to Buenos Aires. Now I am worried about the mail system and the taxes for importing parts by airfreight.
Hopefully tommorrow (if Varig Log comes through) my bike will be in the neighborhood of Javier and Sandra´s Dakar Motors in Buenos Aires where they have kindly agreed to exchange the old monster for the beauty new one. In December when I return to Argentina to complete my trip I hope to have a working bike.

Hello Susan!
I will pass through Belem next week, if your carbourator is there i could take it to Peru, but from there you would need an other person to bring it down to Buenos Aires! I think more people will pass through the Andens than via Belem!
Think about it, good luck and all the best!
Appie!

Albert what`s your route?
If going through Cuiaba, Brasilia, Rio de Janiero before me (say 4-6 weeks), we could do a switch, maybe we could relay the carb with other travellers and it could go around South America before the rest of the bike does!
Could be the most creative courier service but hey, DHL doesn`t accept payment in Quilmes...
Email me through HUBB with an approximate time frame. I have a contact in Brasilia or could easily find a biker in Rio?

Thanks! Appie y Josh
Appie,
The bike actually made it through Argentina customs today, but the carburator hasn´t made it to Belem yet. If it gets there in time it would be great if you could take it to Peru. I think there are more travelers on that side of the continent and although it is a bit wacky, it just might work.
Javier says you should come here and visit his new place!
Ok I will let you know Josh what is going on.. thank you both for volunteering.
Cheers Susan

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
