Flying within the country with a bike on your passport (Ecuador, Galapagos)

Does anyone know whether it is possible to take flights within a country without having hassle if you have a bike stamped into your passport?

Specifically, I'd like to travel to Ecuador overland with a Chilean bike, then fly out to the Galapagos and back, then continue my journey with the bike.

Does anyone know whether there might be problems leaving the bike behind and getting on the plane?

Thanks in advance!

Matt

Just checked my passport and found that Guatemala and Honduras were the only countries that logged bike details in my passport during my north-south trip last/this year. I went to the Galapagos while in Ecuador, they are Ecuadorian territory. There is a passport check at the Baltra airport, but I think it is more oriented towards extracting the $100 visitor fee from you. The last thing they will be interested in is if you have a bike waiting on the mainland.

Hello,
I live in Ecuador and last year i stored a motorbike of a brasil biker,
then he went to the Galapagos and afer 10 days he came here in my cabana to collect the bike.
He did not have any problem.
You are welkom to store the bike at my place, but you will have to
take a bus to Quito for your flight.
Sent me a message if you like.

O.k. happy travels!
Saludos

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
