Lightbulb Found a bike, driver missing!

I have troubles with my bike and ended up by a dealer!
There is an red KLR with a numberblade from New Mexico, They say he changed it on the way as he travelled! His name is John and all his stuff is in the Hotel but he is not! The bike is there since more than a month! He but it there to change the chain and he wanted to pick it up next day, but never showed up again! The owner from the shop informed the american embassy here in Manaus but no one found any documents they say!

I hope that information is wrong!
Does somebody know this bike and his driver called John!
No one knows anything here!

Appie

THAT red KLR got sold in Colombia so unless Paul Thoreson of Casa Kiwi is in trouble...

It is the same bike, but no sticker on the side and there is a big silver - black Givi topcase on the bike and a red round chain to lock the bike!
The yellow numberblade haves the number P76050 and is from New Mexico!

Here is the link for the fotos!

One mate in ADV get to this information:

“The owner of the KLR is John Hilman of Santa Fe. SFPD went to the address from the plate registration and his neighbor said he hadn't been there in a year or so. It was unclear to me if he had moved out, or just hadn't been home in a year. SFPD was trying to contact any relatives in the area that might know more.”

Nobody know or meet this John????

Ecuador???????

Manaus is in Brazil the biggest city in middle the Amazons jungle.
Appie right now is near the Andes mountains in Peru, he cant do anything else.

I’m betting but only his family or relatives can do some if they know he’s lost.

apparently resolved...

Missing rider in Brasil... can we help? - Page 10 - ADVrider

for any concerned onlookers...
John Hilman, the minor adventure rider celebrity, safe and sound in the Guatemalan jungle...?

Assuming this is the end of the story, I think Appie should be commended for his concern for a fellow biker. I think maybe assumptions of foul play should be tempered for future `mysteries`. Obviously a very odd situation, I guess it could well have been different.

Agreed, and if so, I hope the "missing rider" will sort out the mess he left on Carlos, the bike shop owner's lap...

Maybe next time, we'll only worry if it's an abandoned GS... LOL!!

Thank's for ending up the story with an happy end!

I think if somebody leaves his bike back because of the repair costs of 300,- Reais, $US 150,- than is a very strange man!!!

I really undersyand that he can not afford the extremely high costs of US$ 0,50 to call the owner of the shop and to tell him that he can have the bike as a present!

My from Belem would have smiled and would have payed him 1.000,- US$ for the bike and would have picked it up in Manaus as well! But if somebody is that strange it is better for him to end up with nothing!

Sorry about my comment here (I will not write everything what i think)!

John i wish you Good luck and save travels for the future but please think a little more before you leave your bike behind again!

Appie!

Quite right Appie and you have been a gentleman in expressing your views!

Some people can't be helped, some don't want to be helped and some aren't worth helping!

From the ADVrider thread, it appears that the UNSIGNED title is at the shop in Manaus.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
