Free Room and Secure Parking in Belem, Brasil – Amazonia
Hello HU members,
My name is Alex and I have been an HU lurker for quite sometime. I live in Belem and have supported many motorcyclists passing by. I have enjoyed very much meeting these motorcyclist and also know what it means to be on the road so I have decided to open my apartment to all HU members, Advrider.com and motoaventuras.net members.
I live in a safe neighborhood close to downtown. I have an extra room with air conditioning and it’s own bathroom. The apartment complex has a closed parking lot with a security guard. The GPS coordinates to my apartment are S01º26.154’ W048º27,276’
I also own a small motorcycle shop that services mostly small bikes but we can help you do routine maintenance to your bike and do minor fixes. My chief mechanic worked 8 years for Honda. The GPS coordinates to my shop are S01°26.412’ W048º28.209’
I have traveled across Brasil, Uruguay and Argentina. I´m very well connected with adventure motorcycle community in Brasil and I know influential people that can help you with along your journey in Brasil with any type of problems. It is just a matter of a phone call.
Here are few pictures of people that have stayed with me and their websites.

Currently SalCar is here with me. He has been here almost a week and we have been servicing his F650GS Dakar (changing oil, brake pads, putting new tires, changing fork oils, changing filters etc) Also, I helped him finding the boat to Manaus.

If you are coming this way please don’t hesitate contacting me. I’ll be honored to host you and help you in anyway I can.
Sincerely,
Alex

Thanks Alex
Very nice of you to offer this sort of hospitality. Having been put up by an acquaintance or two it really is appreciated and a luxury. To save a few dollars on accomodation is also great
I emailed you are riding so hopefully we can meet up.

Belem
Hey Alex - what a super offer of hospitality! My husband and I hope to be in Belem the end of July-09 and would love to meet you. At present, we are wondering if it is possible to ship motorcycles out of Belem by air or alternately by sea. Do you have any information? Also, what is the latest you hear of Venezuela. We don´t usually pay too much attention to bad vibes on a country but must admit we are pretty much put off of Venezuela at this point.

Very good Alex,
It's the way to change the bad image that Brazil has outside here.
Muito bom Alex,
Essa é a forma de tirarmos a imagem ruim que o Brasil tem fora daqui.

Has anyone heard from Alex during the past few years? His last post in this thread was May 2007.
I am curious because I should be down that way by the end of the year, and I generally try not to chase too many ghosts

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
