Most people pay more. I'm not sure why--bargaining skills? Season? Different boats? I paid more for Belém to Macapá, which might be relevant or not. Most people will pay more than Tobi did for his bike, too, since most of us are on bigger bikes with more baggage.
My memory is hazy, but I remember something like 125 reais for a hammock, twice that for a cabin for the one-day ride to Macapá, with about the same amount again for a fully-loaded KLR. YMMV, and again please note this was a different route from either of the ones you're asking about.

Wednesday is the day?
Hey peoples!!
Have to trade in my bike for a 2 wheel drive campervan. Debating whether to take the boat or drive Porto Velho to Manaus. Be there about March. So is the road possible at this time? If not how much is the boat i.e the DOIS IRMAOS for a campervan (does it even take such)? I know we are bike fans, so this is not the place for a campervan question, but this will be my first time travelling with 4 wheels, so don´t know any other resources!!!
Help??

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
