German couple on a RTW trip with two over 20 years old Hondas on their way through SA
Hóla!
We are Bea and Helle, a young couple from Upper Bavaria in Germany and we are probably doing the adventure of our lifetime, a round the world trip with our two more than twenty years old Honda Transalps!
We started in our home town Burghausen at the 18th of June 2011, so we are “On the Road” since over three years now.
Since then we crossed 15 countries and covered over 70.000 kilometers on our trusted bikes.
We visited the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and from Vladivostok in the far east of Siberia we shipped our bikes to Thailand. From there we did a loop trough Cambodia, Laos and Thailand before we went down to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and finally East Timor from where we shipped to Australia.
Then we spent quite a while in Australia, not just because the country is so huge, but also because we had to work for a couple of month to refill our travel funds.
From Down Under we shipped to New Zealand and now, more than three years after we left home, we and our bikes finally arrived in South America to start the next part of our adventurous motorcycle travel around the world.
So far we really had a great time, met some unbelievable helpful and friendly people, rode our bikes trough amazing landscapes and had some real adventures!
On our blog www.timetoride.de and our Facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/Time-to-ride/115955945143396 you can find more information about us, our bikes, about our trip preparations and some travel reports about the countries we visited so far. We also posted lots of pictures and videos about our travel. So if you are interested, we would be very happy if you visit our blog and Facebook page!
We haven´t been in South America before but we heard a lot of great stories about the fantastic bike ride possibilities, the lovely people, the interesting culture and architecture and the delicious Asado so we are really curious about it!
We have planned to spend around 12 month to travel around South America before we are heading North to Central and North America.
We are very interested in meeting local bikers and fellow travelers, having good conversations, of course drinking the one or another or wine and spending a great time whilst exploring South America on our bikes!
So if some of you might have some helpful tips for us what to see, where to go, where to stay and so on... that would be great!
We hope to hear from you and looking forward to see some of you guys on the road!
Cheers, currently from Valparaíso/Chile
Bea & Helmut

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
