Help, overstayed motorcycle visa in Peru
To all:
I've been riding a motorcycle I purchased in Colombia and crossed into Peru in march. It was my mistake for forgetting the end-date for the motorcycle visa, and now I am faced with giving my bike, for free, to the ADUANA of the Peruvian government for overstaying my visa. I have contacted lawyers, spoken with people at ADUANA, and have heard the same thing: the bike is now property of the Aduana. There is no fine one can pay, it is stated in the paperwork that the motorcycle becomes the property of Peru. I am looking at possibly crossing the border (Peru-Ecuador/Tumbes) and paying some sort of bribe to have the paperwork legitimized. I'm not sure what else to do, or if anyone has had any success with this.
If you have any experience with this situation, please let me know here or through my email. Thank you
