Cool stuff Claire.

Looking forward to reading the Blog.

I'm about a month from jumping on the Stahlratte for its final sailing from Cartagena to Panama for the season.

I've been riding my mighty Honda 150XR (the 250 would have been perfect) for the last 9 months in South America.

Santiago - Ushuaia - Argentina - Uruguay - Brazil (3 months) - Bolivia - Peru - Ecuador - Colombia.

The little Honda has been awesome and like you say parts, spares and help never far away.

I'm hoping to make it to Texas

Any tips/hints/advice for Central America would be great if you have time.

Kind regards - Neil

PS - I too haven't found the time (knackered, on the move, dodgy wifi) to blog during my ride - but Facebook has been the lazy way to keep my friends and family in the loop.

If you want a look at some pics

Oh what a trip! sounds awesome - so you came into Bolivia from Brasil?

I missed Brasil (for now), how did you get past that big jungle they have there?

I just sent you a friend request - your photos are cool.

Central America will be a breeze for you - almost (dare i say it) a little tame after South (but damn hot!) - however Guatemala will remind you once again what its like to ride through South America...

I loved the starhlratte trip - i wish theyde change the name of that boat..

Yeh - any question just FB them over... take care!

Whats wrong with the name?
Would you prefer "Jewel of the Seas"?
Or "Steel Bunny" if the "rat"part is the problem?
"Piece of Ship"?
We are open for suggestions...

It's easy: Take the first half of the word "stalking", put in an "h" behind the "a" to make it sound longer and you are almost there. Just add the "ratte"part and you got it

Almost... Behind the "a"!

Sure. End of March. But you would have to continue with the boat to Panama to get back on the mainland or try it on your own from Cuba...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
