It's all on line. Go to Lonely Planet guides, it is all there. Same ferry to Copacabana.

I rode around the back side of Titicaca in 2007. We had to sneak our bikes back into Peru. It worked! We never even knew when we crossed the border! Fantastic scenery, tho I don't recommend it if you like stamps in your passport...

As far as I remember, we just followed the road and rode onto shonky old gappy wooden punt type ferries, I forget the price, but they were slippery as well

It was not a border crossing though, it was after the border, in Bolivia itself on the way to La Paz

Not sure if it is the same ferry, but I caught a small ferry between La Paz and Copacabana (both in Bolivia). Then from Copacabana its about 10km to the Peru border. Good roads and an easy border crossing

Its a small ferry, cost around 20Bob and normally you need to wait for a car. The surface is not great so the exit can be a bit tricky (unless you have a reverse gear)

Yepper, thems the ones we were on, thanks for the photos, reminds me so much of nearly having an off as I exited the ferry, a slight back end slippage on the crap deck.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
