Legally transfer Title/Reg for a California registered bike online.
https://www.cartagz.com/customer/?r_..._creative=2202
For those of us wanting to buy California registered bikes down here in South America. Of course we still need to use the photocopied info for awhile while waiting on our paperwork but this site is legit and will legally transfer title and registration so you can ride your new bike back up into the US.
That should make us all feel a little better, I reckon.

Actually no, I haven't used the site yet. I just thought I would pass it on since the paperwork issue is a recurring theme on a lot of these posts. I may buy a bike in about a month in BA and I'll use it then if I do. I'll post everything that happens regarding the paperwork.
I was a little worried that it could be a scam site or something like that to get your vehicle info, but they have an official occupational license from the CA DMV. On the Cartagz site you can find their license number and then enter it in at the CA DMV website here to see that it's valid.
http://dmv.ca.gov/wasapp/olinq2/authorize.do
So it's legit according to the California government.
Hope this helps!

Yeh, I found the link on the actual DMV site, and I found some testimonials and a BBB rating....but I guess it seems too good to be true. Most people complaining on line seem to object to the pricing and the fact that they can't get through to a real person on the help lines. Others say it's the best thing since white bread (give or take).
I suppose it'll all become clear in time. Great resource if it works as advertised. Thanks for posting the link.

Interesting questions
Mark, I will not offer advice here, as I have ignored several
private messages asking my help in resolving problems being suffered by
motorcycle adventurers after buying USA registered bikes in Argentina. It
would not be fair to them for me to do so.
I will not be involved in any way other than to share my documented
research.
After researching the DMVs of all 50 States and discovering
that of all the States, California is least restrictive regarding Title Transfers,
a California address and California insurance are still required for the buyer.
From my archived research:
Do I Need California Auto Insurance? The California vehicle registration process can not be complete without auto insurance. Minimum 15/30/5 auto insurance is required. The first two numbers in 15/30/5 mean, in an accident each person injured can receive a maximum of up to 15,000 dollars with 30,000 dollars total allowed per accident to all parties involved. The last number refers to the total coverage per accident for property damage in California; in this case 5,000 dollars.
California Vehicles - When you buy a car in California you must register and transfer the title into your name at your local DMV office within 10 days of the purchase date.
Perhaps the suggested on line service provides California addresses and California insurance for the buyer?

Good Advice
Not worried about my nose, just concerned about others needlessly having to pay
through their noses.
