Manaus by boat from Columbia

i realise this will have been covered a thousand times but looking for some up to date info.

In Columbia just now and considering getting to manuas with bike then riding south towards Sao paulo.

Any advice on how to get their. Is it possible to ride into the jungle then get a boat? What about the roads south of Manaus?

Not know much about up here as I wasn't planning on doing it this trip!!

Any help much appreciated. My target is Sao paulo by the 12 April. A serious challenge if I ride through the northern countries son looking at alternatives and trying to paid backtracking the way I have come!!

Have you got a map? You have plenty of time to make it to Sao Paulo by any of various routes. No one here can speak to "backtracking" unless you tell us which way you've already been. What's more, it'll be difficult to suggest a route unless you say something about what sort of riding you like to do.

In particular: do you like red mud? Or would you rather stick to pavement? If the latter, you're not going to want to head south from Manaus.

Fill in the details, then sit back and wait for replies.

Sorry for the lack of confusion.

I've come up the coast of Peru and Ecuador on a KLR 650. I've basically got 3 options.....
Continue through Venezuala and east then south
Get myself onto the amazon and onto a boat to Manaus or even Belem
Return south through Ecuador and Peru.

My biggest problem is making up my mind!! Road conditions don't bother me, I'll ride what's in front of me.

I don't kow much info on the boat trip. Is it possible, from where in Columbia or Peru. Cost etc.

Just trying to put the feelers out to help make my mind up. The amazon would be my preferred choice (I think!)

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
