Mendoza mechanic?
People, how is it? All good? Any experience of a decent mechanic in Mendoza, Argentina, for a knackered F650 Dakar in need of a pre-Ushuia lash-up?
Ta, suerte, Dan Walsh

Not in Mendoza, but I have heard an occasional good thing of the BMW shop in Cordoba, but personally i thought they were friggin` ladrones. Going south from there? BA is the other option. Good to see you are giving some TLC to that bride of frankenstein.

Hi
The Mendoza Police drives the dakar. I asked some of the guys from where they have spare parts. They showed me the way to a BMW garage where I bought the parts. I don't remember the name of the street, but it was on the highway San Rafael - Mendoza, about 5 km south of the big bus station. On the San Martin in Mendoza, south of the center you'll find a BMW show room, they will give you the adress.

Hi Dan
Its Dave here, I have been travelling with Oz and Jess for the past 2 months.
There is a BMW expert in Mendoza who also services the police bikes (Not the BMW dealer, they are bollocks)
Rene should know that too as the Germans told us in Ushaia.
Will dig out the address and email you
Cheers
Dave
ps I am on a Dakar, whats up with yours ?

Dan, I am leaving El Chelten today, taking my time up R40. May visit the Cuevo de los Manos and the Parque Naticional Perito Moreno (not the glacier, the park). I doubt I will see you at either of these places as there is no pub. My next big town will be the town of Perito Moreno, then over to Chile for Carrera Austral. What is your timeline?

Contact Amadeo Masetto at 422 2442. An extraordinary man. Excellent workshop: pneumatic tools, lifters, speaks english... he's the official mech for the Harley Club there, but other bikes too. I'ld put my hands over fire for him.
good luck!

Thank you, muchas gracias. Dakar's suffering from general disrepair, nothing specific or horrific.
Renee - heading for Buenos Aires, change of plan, stuff to sort out in The Smoke etc etc. Will be there for a couple of weeks, then battering down Ruta 3 to TDF, trampolining off Ushuia, back up to BA and into Brazil. See you somewhere, I'm sure, I hope.

email address obfuscated by Grant - no point in giving the spambots another address to collect - especially when it's someone we want to be nice to us! Always obfuscate an address if you MUST put it here.
