The guy claims to have no phone line.

I recieved an email yesterday from him claiming that everything was fine and he would respect the vehicule but...

- The guy is known for being "loco" (he shot at local indians)
- I still dont know his name after asking several times (he uses a spanish first name even tho being german).
- I still dont know where the motorcycle is stocked
- His version is 100% different from what a close friend reported me when he went to visit him.

I got Richard Brandt on the phone and he accepted to try to find out what was going on. He came back to Santa Elena today...i ll leave him some time to settle down.

What i understand now is that the mobilisation of different networks (local friends, local administration, motorcyclists) might have helped realising that the robbery would be too visible. The visit of a friend to the police station suddenly made him show up while he had been invisible for the last 10 days.

I still feel unsafe for the vehicule due to the reasons listed above and hope the motorcycle will be moved to Friedenau, Richard Brandt s parents posada. This will be a "truth or consequences" test.

Kind regards

Philippe

Hi Vortex,

As I said, I would ask my friend, a lawyer in CCS.

First of all, do you have a certificate of some kind, stating that you entered the bike into Venezuela (Permisso de ingresso)? Did you and the German make any kind of contract for hiring a space on his land (or home) to park your bike?
If you do have both of the above, it might be easier to retrieve the bike.

Anyway, you have to go personally to "Fiscalia de Ministerio Publico" in Santa Elena. Here you'll have to state your problem. They might be able to help you.

Good luck!
André

Thanks André for your concern.

I did the exit of the motorcycle at the border since the motorcycle is stamped in the passport, but it s legally in Santa Elena, because it s a free port.

The contract is only moral.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
