Santiago Rentals and Service
I just finished a two month ride with my wife from Santiago to Ushuaia and back to Santiago. We shipped our bikes down, but on the very first day her bike quit running with an electrical issue. Being a thirty five year old 1981 R80GS we could not find any parts available. So we returned to Santiago to the firm known as Ride-Chile.com after speaking to Tomas Karstegl we said to bring her bike to their location where they would store her bike and we could rent one of theirs in order to continue our trip and stay on track with our itinerary. We arrived back in Santiago late afternoon with broken down bike, filled out paperwork for rental. Then by the following day they had serviced their F700GS bike with new tires, new chain & sprockets, oil change and new filter. We were off by mid afternoon. They bent over backwards to do anything we needed. You could not find any better service from someone on such short notice. They also run Moto Service Santiago and can service most late model middle to large adventure bikes. I highly recommend Tomas and his partner Mick for any help involving motorcycles you might require while in Chile. They also can arrange tours for group travel.

Pit Stop in Santiago
An unscheduled pit stop last month found us needing two 16 inch rear tires:
Great Around The World Motorcycle Adventure Rally
A frantic afternoon telephone call to Mick and Tomas at Ride-Chile resulted in them finding the needed tires in Santiago and then being delivered to their office/workshop for collection the next morning. They are a couple of dedicated and hard working motorcycle travel fellows, and both entertaining with global tales to trade from their extensive journeys.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
