Tyres for Harley
Hey all,
25,000 miles down the road and now in Bogota,Colombia, with our 2008 Harley Road Glide. We are having a hard time trying to find tyres , the Harley Dealer has one for the front, but its $300!!
We are starting to think this could be tough all the way from here to Argentina, as we have no idea where we can get the right tyres from!
Any ideas anyone?
cheers

Harley Dan
I to have also found tires to be a real problem, have contact in Lima that is getting me a rear tire for my Buell XB12X shipped in for $375. Best might be to have one shipped from states, might get away with calling it a gift and skipping import duty. Import duty is part of what is driving up cost, take US price add shipping, plus 60% import. I am having a package shipped to Casa Blanca Hostel in Cali if you need a spot to ship to.
When you get to Chile, Santiago would have tires and HD in BA Argentina has a good selection.
Let me know if you need the Phone number for contact in Lima, he may have tires for road glide (has all stock from HD dealer that went out). He only speaks Spanish.

Hey Dan,
Glad to see you are still on the road. In Bogota there is area of a couple city blocks that is nothing but motorcycle shops, I would start there. Sorry I can't recall the street name, but any biker should know where it is. They mostly cater to local smaller bikes, but worth a shot.
If you can go to Medellin, on Calle 10, near Carrera 30 something, there are a bunch of high end bike shops, I have no doubt you would find something there.
I am recovering from a broken collarbone I got in a pedal bike wreck a few weeks ago. I had surgery 10 days ago, and now have a bunch of metal in my shoulder. The good news is that I bought a new XR1200 Sportster to cheer myself up. It'll be another few weeks before I can ride it, though.
Stay on a motorcycle, where you're safe,
Andy

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
