A further update to my Lasik surgery.....
It's now 5 weeks since I was lasered and I can report very few problems.
I stayed off the bike for a month, but last week did a 2 day 1600km round trip in temperatures up to 39C.
No issues with dry eyes, blurring or anything.
I am slightly more light-sensitive than I was before, but this seems to be reducing with time.
I don't much like travelling at night anyway, but seem to have very slight flaring from oncoming headlights. Not enough to cause any concern; I can't even be sure I didn't have this before the procedure, anyway.
If I may be so bold as to offer advice to anyone considering laser correction;
Do your research.
I chose to engage a very experienced ophthalmic surgeon (Perth Laser Vision, Dr Phillip McGeorge) who has carried out many thousands of laser procedures.
I verified initially that it would be he who carried out the procedure, not a less experienced member of his staff.
I believe there are many walk-in shops in the High Street that offer cheaper laser surgery, typically carried out by a GP, not a surgeon.
You will get what you pay for.
I'm not necessarily recommending this surgeon, just stating that in my experience, the care I was given at his clinic was second to none.
Reference an incorrect comment in a previous posting about the corneal flaps never healing, i have just had a follow-up check by my local optometrist, who said the flaps were healing nicely and were almost invisible.
