Yes, the border is closed.
The word is that Ivory Coast would reopen the land borders with both Liberia and Guinea in March 2016, but there's no sign of that happening yet - and with the few new cases of Ebola south of Nzerekore the authorities may delay the opening even further.
Your only option will therefore be a detour via Mali.

Guinea - Ivory Coast Border
Hi,
I have seen quite a lot of information about the Liberia - Guinea or Ivory Coast border being closed but cant find any further indication that the Guinea - Ivory Coast border is closed.
I also asked in the London embassy of Ivory Coast last week and they said the border was currently open.
I intend to travel from Gambia to Ivory Coast in early May. I will take local advice then but i would prefer the Guinea route rather than the Mali option.

I can assure you 110% that the Guinean/CI and Liberian/CI borders are closed!
With the latest find of Ebola in Guinea last week, I can't see it being opened for some time.

Glad to have you back! We've had a bit of a paucity of clear, current reports from West Africa.
Wishing you best in your C.I. project.

Hi Creer,
Thanks for confirming. That's a shame, do you know any details on flights from Conakry to Abidjan ? I see tickets are available ?
Otherwise I might consider the overland route through Mali although I'm not sure how safer option that is ?
Cheers,
Joe
