Not sure if Cameroon issues visas on the border. You don't have to travel all the way to Lagos. There is an embassy in Abuja (I think it is just a consulate in Lagos now). A 30 day visa costs 50,000 cfa and they ask for the money in west African, not Central African cfa. You can probably pay in $, but they'll give you a poor exchange rate and ask for more. The visa is issued in 24 hours. This information is valid to November 2010.
Thanks Peter

People have been succesful getting visas in Calabar, but is much safer getting them beforehand in Abuja.

Visa at border
Rules change but the last time I was at the border (4 y ago, coming from Chad) we were turned back to get visa in N'Djamena which is practically on the border, so no harm done there. But I would definately not risk to be turned back in Nigeria and have to go back to Abuja all the way! You will kick yourself in the head when that happens!
Cheers,
Noel

At the two borders near Maiduguri, Ngala and Bama, you can get transit visa if you are heading to Chad. No long term visa, I think.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
