Congo (ROC, not DRC) visa summary & efficiency

There's getting visa's and getting them efficiently (time, cost, etc). Info is scattered, thought i'd start threads to summarize by country).

Found that this visa is available as follows (single entry, usually 30 day, starting date could be date on visa or date you choose):

1. Nigeria (Abuja) for 13,000 Nigerian currency or 15,000 (close to US$100/50,000CFA) for same day service.

2. Gabon (Libreville) for CFA30,000 ($60) with next day service

Seems to be a better deal in Gabon. Any other experiences??

Again, what about Yaounde? I was always told Yaounde was the best place to stock up and I've waited until I get there to do so.

In Abuja the republic of Congo seem to make up the prices depending on how wealthy you look. I dressed up - 15,000. Smartly dressed Dutch 16,000, Motley Spanish crew 12,000. No money Lithuanian, 10,000.

All done whilst we waited - 20 mins.

Abuja is best as the Sheraton is a good place to stay, easy city to get around. Easy for Cameroon, Congo - DRC was possible but the guy was an arse. Used to be Angola. Forget Gabon as they take 5 days and want a small fortune.

Yaounde would be nice if it wasn't for the old wanker running the mission house on top of the hill. Gabon embassy is full of arrogant sob's and see the new posting about their new requirements. Yaounde is a bit dodgy. Nice food though!

page i had saved while searching website name not on the visa page ... seems quite expensive for ROC visa in Cameroon, but a good deal to get it in Gabon

Congo
- we got in Yaounde (Cameroon), GPS: N 03 53 44/E 11 31 12. It cost 70,000 CFA - ouch! We were told to come back next day but persuaded them to do it same day (for that price it's the least they could do). No problems though, friendly and helpful - although we've heard it's best not to wear jeans etc. Note: you can get a seven-day visa in Libreville for 20,000 CFA, next day.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
