Ghana, Nigeria and Angola visa's
Hoping there are loads of travellers on the road, but reading the forums does not seem as many are travelling in West Africa at the minute.
We just completed our trip through West, Southern and East Africa overland (UK- Cape Town - Cairo - Istanbul and to UK), and our visa's were a success on all parts, even shipping our passports back for the Ethiopian visa as the rules just changed. But I was wondering if anyone is travelling about has managed to get their Ghana visa en route - as from February 2011 they changed the rules and they cannot be obtained on route, and even changed the border to not issuing them.
March time Nigeria has changed all its rules to to only issuing to residence, in Bamako and Accra
and now Angola for the transit visa in Abuja,
Is their anyone on the road at the minute that has first hand info. on these 3 visa's being able to get on the road. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Andi

Got my ghana visa in Ouagadougou after a lot of discussion, staying polite, writing a fake invitation letter and letter of introduction to my trip ! Told I left 7 month ago, have a friend in accra who just became father blah blah. Stay persistant, have a good story and BE NICE !!!! ( key to everything in africa )
The lady at the ouagadougou ambassy is hardcore if she doesn´t like you, me she liked so in the end everything worked out ! Also got my 125cc classic vespa into ghana without carnet or laisser passez.
Nigeria Visa en route also possible with kindness and a bit of time, got mine here in Cotonou after nice talking with the ambassador, a bit of compliments etc. ! Explain your situation, stay calm, if they refuse come back the next day !
cheers
Chris

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
