Ghana visa in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Hey guys/girls,
Just got my visa for Ghana (2 month tousits) in Ouagadougou. I know lots of people were concerned about this one. It is a bit tricky, but definitely do-able. The short story is: you need 4 passport photos, your Yellow Fever, and 2 contacts (I just gave two hotel phone numbers). The cost is 17,700 CFA and processing time is 3 months.
The kicker is that unless there is a good excuse they usually only give them to Burkina Faso residents. I was told that "I've been travelling for more than 2 months" isn't a good excuse since their visas are valid for 3 years (mine is good until 2016) and validity starts on the day of entry into the country. The only valid excuse that they would accept is "I didn't know I was going to be travelling through Ghana until I was already well away from home". You have to write this excuse down on a blank piece of paper for them.
That being said, it was actually pretty easy and the 5 other people I talked to all got their visas no problem.
Anyways, I've added all the extra info to a blog post here, there are also photos of the sheet of what you need to bring and the price list for visas.
Good news for those concerned!
Cheers,
B.
