Done half of Africa and planning the other half now
I've done the southern half of Africa in 2013, the route was like this:
south africa -> lesotho -> south africa -> swaziland -> mozambique -> malawi -> tanzania -> kenya -> tanzania -> zambia -> zimbabwe -> botswana -> namibia -> south africa
Now I'm planning to do another trip in 2017, I'd like to go down from Dublin (Ireland) to Capetown along the West Coast in the first half of '17. I know this is still quite far off, and politics can change until then, but what would you guys think what's currently the safest path from Morocco down to Ivory Coast? So far I was thinking to go along the coast down to St Louis (Senegal), then East to Bamako (Mali), and then South to Ivory Coast. That way I'd be skipping Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia which seem rather high risk, and I could also avoid northern Mali which seems very high risk right now.
What do you guys think about that plan?

I haven't but I start next week and I'm wondering which stove to take.
I favour a little burner that screws onto a butane bottle. Do they have these screw thread butane cans in Southern Africa. The bayonet sort are no good to me.

Gbags,
The primus multi fuel is a great compact stove, it's kinda pricy but always works and will burn just about any fuel

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
