How to get to Madagascar
Hi, I am about to plan my next trip and cant find any informations about how to get to madagascar. I will travel trough Mosambik and wonder if there is an option to ship my motorcycle to Madagascar.

Getting your bike to Madagascar
Hi Thomas
Great to hear you're on a ride through Africa and you've come to the right place with your question. As travellers, many of us feel the same while we're heading through Mozambique - including me. It's very tempting as it's just across the Mozambique Channel to the big island.
However I realized it was a lot more complicated than I expected - no direct routes and eventually I gave up and continued riding on the mainland of Africa. It was several years before I was at home in England and travelled directly to Madagascar. I have been there twice now and spent several months there - I bought a bike locally.
It's not the answer you want to hear, there are very few boats from Mozambique to Madagascar - and in fact this route is not suggested or recommended by anyone with experience of Madagascar as far as I know.
There are NO ferry services but If you're very keen to ship your bike across from Africa, Mombasa in Kenya would be the usual port to use and is a 'safer' port - though many would say that it's not safe even from there. Most of the imports etc go via Kenya.
I have heard of some small boats offering to take bikes across but there are very few of these and they don't have schedules.
I've only heard of travellers once getting their bikes to Mada, they were a French couple who flew their bikes in.
When Touratech took a fleet of bikes there, they used DHL I think.
