Long-term bike rental in SA
Hi,
I will be in Cape Town for 3 Months and was looking for a place to rent a bike >>> NOT a scooter <<< - but I could only find really expensive places (renting out new BMW and such).
I know it is possible to rent a decent car for 4000 rand (300 EUR) per month and was hoping to find a bike in the same price category.
I am looking for a decent bike with definitly more then 150 cc (non of that old honda stuff you see all around India - after passing through India and Pakistan I cannot stand these bikes anymore).
FYI, I am currently in Tehran on my way back to Germany (started from Nepal) and am really enjoying myself - will cross into Turkey in the next couple of days
Best,
Chris

Hi Thomas,
sorry for the late reply I have been in Iran the last couple of days without any internet - I will be in SA in 2 weeks.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, are you only going to be in Cape Town? If you are planning to be in Johannesburg I could possibly help you out.

Good luck Chris, I am sure you'll find a bike in Cape Town. If you were starting/Finishing in JHB then I may have been able to help you out. Have a good trip.

DR650 in Cape Town
Hi there,
Probably a bit late for Chris but for all future visitors to this thread I recently rented a DR650 privately from a mechanic in Cape Town, he keeps it in great condition and it's only USD40 a day, this is the bike http://ridemyride.com/index.php/suzuki-dr650.html
Contact Tim directly to book and enjoy!

What to know when buying
@thecanoeguy, I am in a similar situation. I like the idea of buying a bike in Cape Town to use for three months. I am a German citizen. What does a foreigner need to do to get a bike registered in SA?
