Mauretania - sending a drone to a post/DHL from EU?
Hi,
as I am planing to make a rather intense trip to Dakar through Morocco and Mauretania, I would also like to take a drone with me. As far as I am reading about Morocco and drone laws, I am hesitating to take it through or leave it. BUT... an idea have just come, is it possible to actually sent a drone to Mauretania, to some convenient post or DHL office and received it upon arrival?

It is probably worth you contacting Just at Bab Sahara in Atar. It is a good place to stay (as long as somebody has shot the neighbour's donkey!) and he is tuned-in to the needs of travellers. (Can get grumpy if you ask too many silly questions though! He will have the best advice on whether there is anywhere reliable enough to send packages to (unfortunately I am sceptical. Without wanting to sound culturally insensitive, Mauritania is most definitely on the "African" side of Africa, where Morocco is on the European side!)
I think Nouadibou is unlikely to be a reliable drop, and Nouacchott is a long way down out of your route. (Spelling poor ;-) )

Ten years ago when I went into Morocco the border officials went through my stuff looking for ‘knives and guns’ (they told me). This year the only thing they asked about was drones, and they opened every bag and box to check despite me saying I didn’t have one. I suppose I could have hidden one in the gearbox or somewhere but it really wouldn’t have been worth the risk.
Posting one to Bab Sahara in Atar might work - it certainly felt ok when I was there so if it turns up ok you’re likely to get it (assuming they’re ok with it). How much time it’ll take to get there, or even if it’ll get there at all, is another matter.
