Sorry to hear that Safari was bad - we stayed there in April and the owners were really friendly and welcoming and stood us a few G&Ts. They did however mention they were selling up.
Others:
- Ankobra Beach (5kms after Axim on Abidjan road). Fantastic round houses and dining area. Candlelit dinner on the beach is no problem. Often food is a bit basic (we always bbq on the beach). Been probably their most regular (many times only) customer over last 12 years. Filled with party animals it ain't! But for peace and quiet it is the best. Camping on the beach not a problem.
- Lou Moon (near Axim). More up market but also some cheaper houses. Amazing location, don't know if you can camp, but can't imagine Paul the Belgian owner saying no.
- Anomabo Beach (Anomabo village, quite near Cape Coast): great range of accomodation, big camping/overland area, great simple seafood.
To be honest these days you are spoilt for choice on Ghana's coast. We have been lucky enough to witness BIG turtles laying eggs at both Anomabo and Ankobra at night in early November.
