So, I need a workshop in Johannesburg

Hey there,

I am doing a motorcycle world tour and South Africa is my 50th country.
I ride a 2004 Honda Transalp.

Any idea where can I find a goog workshop for my bike? I need to change chain and tyres desperately

I am in Johannesburg at the moment.
I need a workshop here, my chain is in a quite dramatic situation and it should not go any further

I'll try that!
I've contacted Full Throttle. The sales guy told me to talk to the workshop guy who told me to talk to the parts guy and the parts guy never heard about my bike. Absurd.

Just called the guys from offroadcycles.co.za
At least they sounded humans. And genuinely interested in helping.
Not like the robots in Honda. What a bunch of douches.

Been a decade, since I was there (riding a rented KLR)... but I think you should get parts and tyres from many shops in Jo´burg. Not sure, if they´ll have bike-specific parts for a Transalp readily available, though. Sorry, that I cannot be more of assistance, my info is probably too old.

I'm sure he'll be able to help you or make a plan if he can't. I've heard from a few people that Full throttle is a bit of a hit and miss. Lucky to get someone who actually wants to help you.

PM me if you have any trouble, I'm a regular on Wilddog and should to point you in the right direction

When I am in a foreign country and need a bikeshop or parts, I buy a motorcycle magazine and look in the adds. South Africa has several bike magazines so it should not be a big problem to find a bikeshop.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
