Tanzania/SA national parks car fee
Hi,
I have a LR Discovery 300 tdi which weight with all stuff is about 2900-3000 kg.
In Tanzania national parks fees according to document: http://www.tanzaniaparks.com/parkfee...ees2013-06.pdf
you can read that for foreign registered car up to 2000 kgs you pay 40 USD and for weight between 2000-3000 kgs you pay 150 USD.
For me this is huge and unbearable difference.
Do you know if they strictly stick to this rule? Is it possible to pay 40 USD for my car?
And another question. I cannot find fee for car in SA national parks. Do you pay only conservation fees for persons entering the park?

You will only have to pay USD40 per 24 hours for your Discovery. We did for a Land Rover Defender. They won't weigh the vehicle and they go by the unladen weight. The other tariff is for trucks.

Just phone, email or fax! Why would you want third hand info when it is easy to go direct for the latest info?

In Tanzania they will charge you 40USD per day for the vehicle . The 150USD fee is basically for game viewing vehicles and overland trucks carrying groups of tourists/backpackers etc.
We have fully kitted land rovers with between 2 - 4 people driving into the parks every week weighing over 2000kgs and they pay $40 per day for the vehicle (plus $60 per person). Not cheap!
Hope that helps

Trying telephoning them. It's cheap to do using Skype credit.
A ringing telephone is more 'insistent' than a silent email!

There is no fee for a car in South African parks (SANParks), just the conservation fees and (possibly) accomodation costs.
We were there with our own truck in 2009/2010, and again 2012 and last year with a rented camper.
If you plan to spend more than a few days in any of these parks, I recommend to buy a "Wild Card". Great value for the money, as are the SA-parks in general.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
